  • Montauk

At the far end of Long Island lies Montauk - a fishing village and the last outpost of New York towards the Atlantic Ocean and the Old World. The wind comes in from the south-east over the sand dunes and the color of shy and sea is bleached out. The area has a stark beauty and it’s long nautical history has influenced us in terms of colors and patterns. Bringing a piece of this collection into your home is bringing a small piece of Montauk home.

In our collections, we use plenty of subtle and classic colors and patterns, but this season sees a change in that. There are splashes of color and brightness that bring warmth and vibrancy into your home. Just like it did for those Montauk fishermen and their families as they huddled around the fireplace with the winds howling around the corner of their houses.

Build the history of your home

A home is something that evolves slowly. As you add pieces over the years your home takes on your personality. Your home is a reflection of your history in the same way our collections are a reflection of ours, with a little twist thrown in. Even though we use plenty of new materials and patterns, sometimes we use an updated vintage shirt pattern as the fabric for a duvet cover or a pillow. That is the beauty of timelessness and quality. It just gets more beautiful over time.

The cable throw knit for example is a favorite of ours and it comes in a variety of colors to suit your color scheme. Soft-washed linen features a lot in this collection because it’s just a fantastic fabric that adds calm and sophistication.

No matter which piece you choose, the GANT Home collection is versatile and will blend in and add a little something extra to your home.

Where New York meets the sea

Montauk with its parks and beaches is a favorite for lovers of fishing, water sports or for those that just want to enjoy the rugged nature and rich wildlife that inhabits the far end of Long Island. Due to it’s isolated location, Montauk has been a haven for smugglers and pirates for centuries. From Captain Kidd to the prohibition era smugglers that used Montauk as a delivery point for booze for the speakeasies of New York City.
